grain valley high school

Project Location: Grain Valley, Missouri

  • Grain Valley High School was originally built in the 1990s but has recently expanded due to rapid population growth in the surrounding area. Musselman and Hall's Decorative Concrete by MH division teamed up with Hollis + Miller  to design a beautiful custom terrazzo floor for the high school renovation. 2,890 square feet of blue aggregate terrazzo floors were installed into the school's main entrance hallway. It included sparkling mirrored glass and two shades of blue glass aggregate polished into the concrete. The base concrete slab was topped with a two-inch thick Bomanite Modena topping slab and then polished.  The project also included 1945 square feet of a refined "cream polish" and 4,335 square feet of "salt and pepper" polished concrete among the lecture hall, administration area, and student courtyard. Musselman and Hall decorative concrete team also engraved and polished three sets of steps and filled the grooves of the steps with "Grain Valley Blue" epoxy concrete. M&H Foreman E.J Stahlman, Johnathon Eggert and Joel Kroesen led the crews alongside project manager Stephen White. McCown Gordon Construction Co. led the project as the prime contractor. The Grain Valley High School Project was awarded  honorable mention, educational projects for concrete surfaces magazine.
